Police are asking Central Coast residents to check backyards, sheds and garages as they continue a search for an 84-year-old man reported missing from the Central Coast two days ago.
Mr Phillip Burrell, aged 84, was last seen on Gavenlock Road, Tuggerah, about 3pm Sunday (15 December 2024).
When he could not be located, officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.
Police hold serious concerns for Mr Burrell’s welfare due to his age and the current extreme heat conditions. He also lives with diabetes. Police are appealing for residents to check their backyards, sheds and garages for the missing man.
A search involving 66 people – comprising local police, specialist officers from the Rescue and Bomb Disposal Squad, the Dog Unit, PolAir, assisted by members of the SES, RFS and VRA – is continuing today targeting the Tuggerah – Ourimbah area.
Police have been given new information that Mr Burrell may been near the Pacific Highway between Tuggerah Public School and the Ourimbah roundabout on Sunday afternoon sometime between 1pm and 8pm.
Police are appealing for anyone with relevant dashcam vision of a man matching Mr Burrell’s description to contact police immediately.
Mr Burrell is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall, of thin build, with grey balding hair.
He is known to frequent bushland behind Tuggerah Public School, and a shopping centre on Wyong Road, Tuggerah;
