Fifty households in Armidale have started a “smart” water meter trial that could result in residents saving on water usage and early detection of water leaks.
As part of water saving measures in the region, Armidale Regional Council (ARC) has partnered Nucleus3 (N3) and GreenBe to provide 50 Smart Water Meters across Armidale.
The smart meters provide benefits such as automatic leak detection, daily water use tracking, water saving tips and reducing bill shock through the dedicated app.
One resident taking part in the trial has already reported a leak that was identified by the new smart meter.
Mayor Sam Coupland said Council was committed to providing more sustainable and smarter solutions when it came to saving water and the trial of smart water meters was all part of the overarching goals of council.
“With Armidale and Guyra on Level 1 water restrictions we all need to be aware of water usage and water saving measures,” said Mayor Coupland.
“Residents were randomly asked to participate in this trial, which will last three months and we will review the benefits of the smart meters after that.”
