Members of the community are invited to view the detailed designs for the first stage of upgrades to the Orange Adventure Playground at a consultation session next week.
Consultants Civille Pty Ltd will visit the Adventure Playground to discuss the designs with playground users and interested residents from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday 23 November.
Orange City Council’s Sport and Recreation Committee Chair, Cr Tammy Greenhalgh is excited to be a step closer to seeing improvements to the ageing playground.
UPGRADE: Detailed designs are almost complete to upgrade the ageing Orange Adventure Playground.
“I’m looking forward to seeingthe vision for the upgraded Adventure Playground in detail and getting on with the job of providing a play space that can be enjoyed for many years to come,” Cr Greenhalgh said.
Civille Pty Ltd was awarded the contract to produce the detailed design and construction drawings for the upgraded playground in August after delivering the concept design back in April.
This followed extensive community consultation including online surveys, face-to-face sessions and community roundtables to find out what improvements residents wanted to see made to the playground.
“The community has been involved in this process every step of the way and I encourage as many people as possible to come along and provide feedback at this important stage of the project,’ Cr Greenhalgh said.
Stage one of the project will focus on upgrading the main play areas and central meeting area, as well as the installation of a splash park. It is expected to cost about $1.93 million, which includes a $1.25 million grant from the NSW Government’s Resources for Regions program.
Council hopes to go out to tender in December to engage a suitably qualified builder to construct the first stage of the new play facility.
