Residents invited to have their say on our parks

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is inviting the community to have their say on draft concept designs for Emmerson Park, the Toowoomba Waterbird Habitat and Thiess Park.

TRC’s Environment and Community portfolio leader, Cr Joe Ramia said the draft concept designs aim to improve recreational facilities in these parks.

“The draft concept designs include improvements to several facilities including playgrounds, landscaping, pathways and picnic areas,” Cr Ramia said.

“In September and October last year, Council invited the community to have a say about the use of each park and what can be improved.

“Council is seeking comment on the draft concept design we developed through community feedback.

“The draft concept designs will be available on the Toowoomba Regional Council website yoursay.tr.qld.gov.au and in hard copy at our customer service centres from Wednesday 12 February.

“You can share your feedback from Wednesday 12 to Saturday 29 February by completing a survey on our website. Hard copy surveys will also be available at customer service centres.

“You can also provide feedback by speaking to the project team in Thiess Park at the gazebo, near the corner of Smart Drive and Jamieson Court on Wednesday 12 February from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm and in Emmerson Park at the shelter, near the corner of Rowe Street and Flinders Street on Thursday 13 February from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm.

“I encourage all park users to have their say on the future of these parks by filling out a survey or speaking to us in the park.

“Community feedback will be used to guide the development of the final concept designs presented to Council from mid-2020.

“It is important to note that any future upgrade works will be dependent on funding and Council priorities.”
