Townsville residents are being asked what their vision for Townsville is as Council calls for residents to shape Townsville’s future through the development of a new Corporate Plan.
Townsville Mayor Troy Thompson said Council was developing a new Corporate Plan to align with community expectations and the vision of a new Council.
“A Corporate Plan provides government, stakeholders and importantly the public with an understanding of the purposes our organisation, our objectives and our role in delivering for Townsville,” Cr Thompson said.
“Across all levels of government we have seen people wanting change, they want to be heard and they want to have their say, so as Council’s current Corporate Plan comes to the end, we realise how important it is to consult with the community on their vision for our great city.
“Would you like to see a more accessible city, Council undertaking more services or planning for future growth, now is the time to have your voice heard.”
Councillor Thompson said there would be a number of public think-tank style consultation sessions with Councillors, members of the public and industry stakeholders, as well as an online consultation through Council’s Have Your Say platform.
“We want as many people to tell us what they love about Townsville and what will make them love this city more, their vision and their ideas, so we’ve made it as easy as possible to get involved,” he said.
“We have two large community drop-in sessions available for people to come down and chat to our Councillors, a number of smaller more localised sessions throughout the suburbs, or people can simply jump online and complete our Have Your Say Survey.
“This is not just a tick a box exercise, and we will be taking people’s insights into account when shaping Councils 2025-2029 Corporate Plan, the guiding document that outlines why we do what we do.”
