Resurfacing Of Mileham Street Netball Complex Complete

Image of Hawkesbury City Mayor Sarah McMahon, Member for Hawkesbury Robyn Preston and NSW MLC Peter Primrose. The netball courts at Mileham Street Netball Complex in South Windsor are ready for the upcoming netball season, thanks to resurfacing works at the popular sports facility.

The 25 courts have been milled back and provided with a fresh playing surface in time for the upcoming netball season. The 300 tonnes of milled surface removed from the site will be recycled and used as road base for a new carpark at Cattai.

The netball court resurfacing project was funded through a grant from the NSW Government’s Sports Priority Needs Grant Program.

Hawkesbury City Mayor Sarah McMahon welcomed the works, which were carried out in partnership with the Hawkesbury Sports Council.

“Mileham Road Netball Complex is one of our City’s most loved and visited sports facilities. It is home to the Hawkesbury City Netball Association and during the netball season thousands of players, their families and friends visit every week for games and training,” Mayor McMahon said.

“Council is committed to providing high-quality sports facilities and parks that support an active lifestyle for our City. That’s why you’ll see over the coming years tens of millions of dollars being spent on delivering a once-in-a-generation program of new recreation facilities and upgrades to existing parks, fields and courts.

“I can’t wait to see our local netballers back in action on the freshly resurfaced courts for the coming season.”

Minster for Sport Steve Kamper said the project shows the NSW Government’s commitment to providing fit-for-purpose infrastructure in communities that need it most.

“The NSW Government understands the critical need to upgrade and create spaces and places that enable communities to keep healthy, active and connected by participating in sport from the grassroots and beyond.”

Member for Hawkesbury Robyn Preston said: “I am glad to see this project has been completed, following funding that was provided by the previous Coalition Government. With the 2024 netball season about to start, players will have a real sense of pride, playing on this revitalised complex. Good luck to all the players and clubs.”

The resurfacing works at Mileham Street Netball Complex are separate from the works proposed under the concept landscape masterplan for South Windsor Park. The concept plan was recently presented to the community for feedback and that feedback is now being reviewed.
