On behalf of the ACT Labor team, I acknowledge the parliamentary contribution of Liberal MLA Vicki Dunne over nearly two decades and wish her well in her parliamentary retirement.
As the Assembly’s longest serving member, Mrs Dunne has been a formidable advocate for the conservative side of politics. She has ably represented the Belconnen community and has been diligent in her shadow ministerial duties throughout. She will be a big loss to the parliamentary ranks of the Canberra Liberals.
I would also like to acknowledge her active promotion of the ACT Legislative Assembly through the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, particularly during her time as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
Whilst our political views are very different – we have almost always been on opposing sides of the major debates in the Assembly over more than a decade now – I thank Mrs Dunne for her commitment to Canberra and to robust parliamentary democracy.
After a long and distinguished career in Territory politics, I wish Mrs Dunne and her family all the very best for the future.
