Revealed: WA Aboriginal Art Market welcomes buyers back

  • WA’s biggest Aboriginal art market will take over the Fremantle Arts Centre grounds
  • One day only on Saturday, 6 May 2023
  • Artwork from WA’s best First Nations artists from remote and regional centres and local independent artists

Indigenous artists from across the State will showcase their talents as Western Australia’s biggest Aboriginal art market takes over the Fremantle Arts Centre grounds this Saturday.

Since its inception in 2008, the Revealed Exhibition: New and Emerging WA Aboriginal Artists has attracted artists from across WA and exposed their unique works to a growing audience.

This year, the exhibition runs from Saturday, 6 May to Sunday, 23 July, with a floor-to-ceiling display of works by more than 100 Aboriginal artists from remote, regional and metropolitan WA.

As well as the exhibition, the popular Revealed: WA Aboriginal Art Market is being held in-person for the first time since 2019, giving people the chance to purchase unique artworks for one day only.

The WA Aboriginal Art Market includes more than 30 stalls selling original First Nations paintings, textiles, jewellery, ceramics and carved artefacts, providing an ethical, direct way to purchase art with 100% of sales returned to the artists.

The Art Market is being held on Saturday, 6 May and features works by both emerging and established artists. The Fremantle Arts Centre venue will also have music, food and artist talks. For more information visit

More than 900 WA Aboriginal artists have been featured at Revealed since its inception, generating more than $3.5 million in sales.

Revealed is presented by the Fremantle Arts Centre (City of Fremantle), with funding from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the Commonwealth Department of Communications and the Arts.

As stated by Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman:

“The Revealed exhibition and art market provide a wonderful taste of the talent and diversity of our Aboriginal arts sector in Western Australia.

“These events not only raise the profile of WA emerging artists but also share our uniquely Western Australian stories with audiences in WA and beyond.

“The art market has given many people the chance to dip their toes into art buying, giving budding collectors their first experience of purchasing an artwork.

“I encourage people to take their friends and family to this great one-day event on Saturday, 6 May and see what is on offer.”

As stated by Fremantle MLA Simone McGurk:

“There’s no doubt we’re offering something for everyone this weekend with Revealed showcasing First Nations culture through art on Saturday, and by Sunday we’ll take to the streets to celebrate all things AC/DC with High Voltage.

“I look forward to a fun-filled weekend of activity and culture. Fremantle is a creative community and it’s great to see the popular exhibition and market back for the first time in four years.”
