Working with Bayside Care and Support has led to a positive change of lifestyle for Gemma.
After leaving her finance job in early 2023, Gemma sought a new career working in the community. She is now helping home care clients with cleaning and household chores.
“I love this role,” Gemma said. “The hours are flexible, so it works in well with my young family, and I’m meeting new people. Being face-to-face with the community, knowing that I’m helping them is wonderful.
“My clients come from various backgrounds with plenty of stories to tell. While working at Joan’s, we talk, we might look for something that she’s lost and have a great laugh about it.”
At Joan’s retirement village in East Brighton, Gemma makes the bed, vacuums, cleans the bathroom and washes the floor amongst other cleaning-related tasks.
“I really look forward to Gemma coming,” Joan said. “She’s a lovely person; an efficient worker and I love our talks which are mostly about our families.”
