After a false start last month, works on the Rifle Range Road intersection upgrade at Bangalow will get underway this Monday 20 May.
Council’s Director of Infrastructure Services, Phil Holloway, said the recent false start was the result of some unexpected, last-minute approvals required by Transport for NSW which are now finalised.
“It has been frustrating, and we thank the community for their patience,” Mr Holloway said.
“We’re really excited to be delivering this major upgrade for Bangalow because it includes widening Lismore Road, drainage upgrades, new bus bays and shelters on both Lismore Road and Rifle Range Road and beautiful new shared paths connecting the bus bays to Tristania Street,” he said.
As of Monday, crews will be onsite starting the works and traffic will be detoured to Raftons Road via Keith Street or Leslie Street.
“The works schedule includes road closures at certain times and detours will be in place. We’ll have information boards out in advance but everyone who uses Rifle Range Road and Lismore Road will be impacted by delays and detours,” Mr Holloway said.
WORKS PROGRAM – how will it affect me?
When work starts, the intersection of Rifle Range Road and Lismore Road in Bangalow will be closed to all traffic except emergency services so we can:
- Raise the road.
- Rebuild the intersection.
- Install culverts under Lismore Road.
This a major project funded by the NSW Government, Australian Government and Byron Shire Council.
