Riverina accommodation receives a boost from NSW Government funding

The accommodation provider will almost double its capacity, thanks to the $145,738 contribution from the Regional Tourism Fund, managed by Destination NSW.

³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s MLC Wes Fang was on-site for the start of construction today, and said the funding will go a long way in providing much needed accommodation for the town.

“The Riverina is the perfect place to relax, reconnect and enjoy at your own pace and is home to natural waterways, an amazing array of food trails and charming towns just waiting to be explored,” Mr Fang said.

“Initiatives such as the redevelopment of the Brolga Hotel Motel are crucial to driving visitation to this beautiful region.”

The new wing will incorporate two rooms that interconnect, which will be suitable for family accommodation, plus a room with fully accessible facilities, a first for Coleambally.

Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said the NSW Government remains focused on supporting rural and regional communities like Coleambally, particularly during this difficult period of drought.

“Tourism is vital to rural and regional communities, contributing $19.5 billion to the NSW economy and directly employing 90,400 people,” Mr Ayres said.

“The investment in Brolga Hotel Motel is an example of how the NSW Government is working hard right across our regions to make it easier for tourism operators to access vital grants to get their initiatives off the ground.

“Tourism turbocharges regional economies and this project will not only create jobs during construction, but also long term.”

Brolga Hotel Motel owner Les DeMamiel said, “Coleambally is a growing town and our existing accommodation is often fully booked out, so the new rooms will be a welcome addition and will bring more tourism dollars into the town.”

The Regional Tourism Fund is part of the NSW Government’s record funding commitment of $43 million over four years and part of a strategy to boost tourism right across the State, supporting local economies and jobs.
