Animated smash hit Puss in Boots: The Last Wish will light up the screen at Council’s Riverway Movie Night this Friday August 18 from 6:30pm at Riverway Oval.
Council holds a free movie night on the third Friday of each month, with this family-friendly and free event always a hit with residents.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish follows Shrek fan favourite Puss after he discovers that his passion for adventure has taken its toll and has burned through eight of his nine lives.
He then launches an epic journey with Kitty Softpaws and their sidekick Perrito to restore his lost lives while finding the mythical Last Wish.
Families can bring their own popcorn and treats or get a bite to eat from the food truck before enjoying the open-air cinema under the stars.
“It’s a relaxed movie night where you can enjoy time with family and friends under the stars to kick off the weekend,” Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said.
“This free event is always well supported by young people in Townsville and it’s open to everyone of all ages and all abilities with easy access to the oval and accessible toilets nearby.
“In our recent Community Sentiment Survey 86 per cent of Townsville residents backed Council’s goal of making Townsville a city where there’s a lot for people to do, including in the arts, sports, events and recreational activities.
“Council is proud to deliver that for the people of Townsville.”
Council invites everyone to explore the popular walking loop around the Ross River, check out what Citylibraries Riverway is offering and immerse themselves in the artwork at Pinnacles Gallery.
Riverway Movie Nights is one of several Council-run events and initiatives for the young people of our city to provide them with an opportunity to connect with the wider community.
