Road Maintenance Blitz In Melbourne’s North-West

VIC Premier

Drivers across Melbourne’s north-west will soon benefit from safer and smoother journeys, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Roads and Road Safety Melissa Horne said road rehabilitation works will get underway in Keilor East, Essendon Fields and Moonee Ponds, as part of the Labor Government’s road maintenance blitz.

The Government is investing $780 million to rebuild, repair and resurface more than 1,000 kilometres of roads across the state.

Works will take place this week along Keilor Park Drive in Keilor East between Thor Court and Commercial Place. Crews will then get underway with works on Wirraway Road in Essendon Fields and Waverley Street in Moonee Ponds next month.

The roads targeted under this maintenance blitz have been selected following community feedback, ensuring that works are delivered where they’re needed most.

The works will commence overnight at Keilor Park Drive on Thursday 16 March between 8pm to 5am, and from 8pm Friday 17 March to 5am Monday 20 March, weather permitting.

Keilor Park Drive will be closed southbound between Ely Court and Commercial Place, with a signed detour in place via Old Calder Freeway, Green Gully Road, Sunshine Avenue and Metropolitan Ring Road.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time when travelling throughout the area.

As stated by Minister for Roads and Road Safety Melissa Horne

“We’re rebuilding, repairing and resurfacing roads right across the state to improve safety for drivers and make it easier for them to get them where they need to go.”

As stated by Member for Niddrie Ben Carroll

“These works will boost safety and make journeys more reliable for locals travelling along Keilor East, Essendon Fields and Moonee Ponds.”
