Two drivers will appear in court after they allegedly drove dangerously on main arterial roads just outside the CBD last week.
Police have investigated an alleged dangerous driving incident that occurred about 3.45pm on Tuesday 21 March on Greenhill Road in Adelaide and then continued onto King William Road at Unley. The incident involved a Mitsubishi Van and a Red Mazda committing a number of traffic offences which police will allege was dangerous to the driver’s involved, other motorists, pedestrians and cyclists in the area.
Following an investigation the driver of a red Mazda, a 56-year-old woman from Unley, was reported for driving in a dangerous and reckless manner. The driver of the white Mitsubishi, a 23-year-old man from Hawthorn was reported for driving on a nature strip, travelling in motor vehicle with part of body outside of the vehicle and driving in a dangerous and reckless manner.
Both drivers have had their vehicles impounded for 28 days and been issued with a 12 month licence disqualification, utilising recent changes to legislation. The pair will be summonsed to appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
Inspector Damien Eichner, Officer in Charge of Road Policing Section, said “This incident has shown two drivers who made appalling decisions, which had the potential to cause serious injury to either themselves or other road users.
Driver’s need to drive with respect and that means making sound decisions to de-escalate a situation by pulling over and reporting the incident to police.
We urge members of the public who witness dangerous driving to report it to police at the time on 131 444 and if you have dash camera footage of an incident to attend at a police station and provide that footage so our officers can investigate the matter.”
