Road work on way for Mullumbimby’s Prince Street

Long stretch of gravel followed by bitumen road

Residents of Prince Street in Mullumbimby will be pleased to know that roadwork will get underway in the coming months.

The work will involve minor drainage improvements, heavy patching, improvements to the road surface in some areas and the reconstruction of intersection of Prince Street and Argyle Street.

The work will be funded by Council and NSW Public Works, as the NSW Government recognises the road was damaged as part of the development of the pod village which is providing temporary accommodation for people impacted by the floods.

“We acknowledge the current condition of Prince Street is poor and that traffic on the road has increased substantially since work on the pod village started last year,” Phil Holloway, Director Infrastructure Services, said.

Council expects to appoint a contractor by September and is hoping the improvements to Prince Street will start in as soon as possible after that.

In the meantime Council will be doing temporary repairs on potholes for the convenience of drivers.
