Robertson Park Christmas tree, giant baubles and fairy lights to open Christmas season

Orange Council

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Orange.

The first of Council’s Christmas lights are set to be turned on this week when two giant bauble arches are erected in Robertson Park and fairy lights are switched on at the front of the Civic Centre.

Orange Mayor Jason Hamling said the Council’s 6-metre high Christmas tree will be installed at the Summer Street end of Robertson Park this week, in line with a community survey which chose the location.

”Christmas lights and decor around town bring some light and Christmas joy to everyone’s lives,” Cr Hamling said.

“The new tree will be decorated with more than a hundred baubles and 1680 lights.”

Two large, arched walkways styled like Christmas baubles are being erected at the southeast and southwest entrances of Robertson Park.

The rotunda in Robertson Park will also be a focus with giant-sized Christmas presents and the tree at the front of the Civic Centre will be covered in fairy lights.

Cr Hamling said hundreds of families across the city get decorate the outside of their homes and Council also wanted to join that community Christmas spirit.

”There is nothing quite like strolling through Orange around Christmas time,” Cr Hamling said.

“I hope everyone will have a fantastic time getting ready for Christmas.”
