Rockhampton Regional Council has recently announced an historic partnership with Australian low cost carrier Bonza Airline and today, they welcomed Bonza’s Chief Commercial Officer to the region to celebrate the milestone.
Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said this is a really exciting time, not just for the local tourism industry, but for businesses as well.
“The benefits of Bonza offering budget flights to currently un-serviced routes, is going to benefit many sectors of our community,” Mayor Williams said.
“More flights, means more travellers – more visitors to our region for leisure, and for business.”
“Furthermore, it will showcase that we have one of the most liveable regions in Australia.”
Rockhampton Airport Chair Councillor Neil Fisher said today’s visit is a testament to the relationship being built between the Rockhampton Airport and Australia’s only independent low cost carrier.
“We have been in negotiations with Bonza for some time – and to see it come to fruition is very welcome news,” Cr Fisher said.
“To have so many routes on offer, is exactly what we were working towards.”
Chief Commercial Officer at Bonza, Carly Povey, said with four new routes directly in and out of Rockhampton Airport, Bonza will be delivering on their promise to give Aussies more options for leisure travel.
“Not only will the flights open up new markets for the region’s tourism industry, locals will have the opportunity to explore their own backyard with ultra-low fares,” Ms Povey said.
“Adding to the broader focus on customer experience and our commitment to sustainability, has been the decision to go paperless with the launch of our own App ‘Fly Bonza’.
“We are encouraging everyone to get on board, download the app and keep an eye out for updates as new functions are added.
“Flights are due to go on sale within the next eight weeks, pending regulatory approval.”
