Rockingham Detectives are seeking information regarding an armed robbery incident in Rockingham today, Tuesday 2 May 2023.
About 10:30am two males on an orange motorcycle with no number plates attended a shopping centre on the corner of Read Street and Council Avenue. One of the men entered the shopping centre and approached a jewellery store, where he brandished a tomahawk and threatened staff before leaving with an amount jewellery.
Members of the public intervened, with a group of people and security detaining the man until police arrived a few minutes later and arrested him. The stolen items were recovered and returned to the store.
The investigation is ongoing and detectives would like to hear from anyone who has information regarding the movements of the orange motorcycle in the time leading up to the incident, and after the incident occurred.. It is believed the motorcycle may have been in the vicinity of the Rockingham foreshore in the 10-15 minutes prior to the incident.
