Swan Hill Rural City Council and Pioneer Settlement are delighted to introduce their newest addition to the Pioneer Settlement family, Rocky.
In February, the community was deeply saddened by the loss of a much-loved resident Clydesdale horse, Gemma.
Council’s Mayor, Cr Les McPhee said Rocky had been stealing hearts since his arrival.
“Rocky, is a stunning six-year-old Clydesdale horse and he has already become a favorite among locals and visitors – he has been attracting quite a bit of attention.
“Rocky hails from Billabong Ranch in Echuca and has been working at the Echuca Port.
“He was a little bit slower than his friend at pulling the cart, so his gentle pace will be perfect at Pioneer Settlement,” Cr McPhee said.
According to his new handler, Ian “Sput” Coffey, Rocky has an incredible personality that is just as charming as his appearance.
“He’s settled in very nicely – he loves attention and being around people, and he’s been a joy to work with since the day he arrived.
“It’s great for Joe to have a new friend, they’ve been getting along great in the paddock,” Sput said.
Cr McPhee encouraged anyone who hasn’t yet had the pleasure of meeting Rocky, to take advantage of the school holidays.
“Head into the Pioneer Settlement these school holidays and meet this beloved Clydesdale Rocky, in person,” Cr McPhee said.
Rocky was purchased in partnership between Pioneer Settlement and volunteer group, Friends of Pioneer Settlement.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Friends of Pioneer Settlement, for their generous donation,” Cr McPhee said.
