The City of Hobart and its bridge construction contractor VEC Civil Engineering (VEC), worked hard to have the new Rose Garden Bridge ready to open to the public early in the week commencing 2 December 2019.
Unfortunately, it has become apparent that the surface coating of the pedestrian and cycle path on the bridge does not meet the City’s or VEC’s expectations.
VEC Civil Engineering and the City of Hobart are working collaboratively to identify a solution.
Until such time, the bridge will remain a construction site and therefore not accessible to the public.
Taking account of the lead times associated with the manufacture and delivery of materials, it is likely that the Rose Garden Bridge will not be open to the public until early in 2020.
