Rosebud Police round up Rye guy

Rosebud police responded to reports of a hoon driver in Rye last night (8 June).

As police turned the corner into Johnson Avenue, they observed a white Holden Utility allegedly doing burnouts in the street about 11.50pm.

The male driver of the utility parked his vehicle, got out and started walking away from police.

Police stopped the man who then underwent a breath analysis test.

He returned an alleged breath test of 0.171

His vehicle has been impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1010.00

The man’s P1licence has been immediately suspended and he will be charged on summons with drink driving and traffic related offences.

This impound forms part of Operation Regal, a four day high visibility road policing operation over the Queen’s birthday long weekend.

The state-wide operation will commence on Friday, 7 June and will focus on impaired driving, increased traffic on rural roads, towing trailers and caravans, and trail bike riding in state forests and parks.

Enforcement activities will vary across the state with police focusing on traffic corridors that link metropolitan areas to popular holiday destinations including the high country (ski fields), Grampians and Lakes regions.

Operation Regal will run for four days from 12.01am Friday 7 June to 11.59pm Monday 10 June 2019.
