The RSPCA is on a mission to ‘Clear the Shelters’ this weekend (21-23 February 2020) with adoption fees reduced to $29 for all animals great and small in care across the country.
The charity aims to rehome as many animals as possible over the three-day adoption drive, starting this Friday.
Last year, a whopping 2,654 animals, totalling 90% of all animals in RSPCA care around the country, found permanent loving homes.
RSPCA WA has plenty of furry and feathered friends waiting for a second chance at the – including birds, rabbits, dogs, kittens and cats. Plus, we have four horses available for adoption who are currently off-site in foster care – call the Shelter to arrange a meet.
Perth’s will also be bringing cats and kittens along to the RSPCA Shelter from Friday to Sunday, in an effort to find homes for some of their long-term residents too.
Although adoption fees will be drastically reduced, normal adoption procedures will apply to ensure every animal is matched with the right family. This includes one-on-one meetings with prospective adoptive parents and future fur-siblings. The animals will have already been desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and undergone vet checks and behavioural assessments.
Potential new paw-rents should bring photo ID, payment, and, if renting, proof that they’re allowed to keep a pet.
There will be a fun event atmosphere on the Saturday, with food and drink vendors, face-painting, pet product displays, a raffle and a sausage sizzle (with veggie options) from 11am to 2pm.
will also have a stall on the Saturday, with pictures of all their dogs available for adoption. They will honour the $29 fee for people who go on to adopt a dog.

As noted by Executive Manager Animal Services Hannah Dreaver:
“If you’re looking for a new family member, please ‘Adopt – Don’t Shop’, and give one of these adorable rescued animals a second chance at a happy life.
“Our aim this weekend is to find homes for every single animal in our care that’s ready for adoption. A permanent home is better than spending time in the shelter, and it means we are able to take in more animals who need help.
“Even though the $29 adoption fee does not come close to covering the cost of treating and caring for the animals, you can’t put a price on finding forever homes for animals in need.
“We’re hoping this weekend will encourage people who have been thinking about bringing a new pet into their family, and have the means to care for them, to adopt.
“Some of these animals – like – have been waiting many months for a home. We really hope this will be her lucky weekend!”
NOTES:
Adoption fees from Cat Haven animals adopted at the RSPCA Shelter will go to Cat Haven. Cat Haven adoption policies and procedures will apply to their animals.
If you are planning to adopt a cat, please bring a cat carrier with you, if you have one. RSPCA Shelter shop does sell cat carriers as well.
If you are planning to adopt a dog, you will be required to bring all family members for a meet and greet, including any other dogs you may already have. We’d recommend coming without your own dog initially. Then, if you’re a good match, you can place the dog on hold and return with your own pooch for a meet.
During this weekend, adoption holds will be limited to 2 hours for cats and 4 hours for dogs.
Horses available for adoption are not kept on site. If you are interested in horses, please call the Shelter on
