An iconic NFT collection is about to be launched coinciding with the State of Origin being the first of its kind and supported by iconic sporting personalities including Wally Lewis with the aim to support grassroots rugby league.
Queensland Rugby League (QRL) have partnered with major companies including XXXX Lion Nathan, MOS Corporation and Playcasta to introduce their first Australian Rugby League metaverse, offering NFT digital assets with exclusive benefits.
The NFT launch will consist of 10,000 tokenised NFTs as part of ‘The Ultimate Queensland NFT’ campaign which will offer the best experiences not just in sport but music, TV, exclusive meet and greets with sporting idols, signed memorabilia, VIP experiences and every 1 in 2 of the first 1000 NFTS will win a $200 gift voucher with QRL.
QRL CEO Rohan Sawyer says “The NFT launch highlights some of Queensland’s most iconic athletes and personalities coinciding with the much-anticipated State of Origin 2022. Our fan base is continuing to connect with us digitally and this connection is the perfect pathway to reward and engage the Queensland community.”
“Who knows what buyers could receive, it will be with high anticipation that buyers can expect a wide range of benefits including potentially meeting and hanging out with your favourite sporting icon like Wally Lewis,” said Ken Lee, Managing Director at Playcasta.
“We are highly encouraging those who want to receive the most benefits to register for our pre-release sale of the first 1000 NFTs which will be dropped on the 29th of June, but we don’t expect these to last long” Mr. Lee continued.
The NFT drop includes a set of ‘legendary’ tokens each one of them unique, with one of the prized tokens being ‘King of the State’, Wally Lewis. In addition to Wally Lewis, there are many other unique iconic Queenslanders such as Cameron Munster, Karl Stefanovic and the Stafford Brothers to name a few, have also signed up for the NFT release.
Some of the other benefits enthusiasts can expect to receive meet and greets with icons and celebrities, experiences, merchandise and other giveaways as part of just some of the utilities from the NFTs.
QRL will leverage the NFT program to build on their state-wide community program, investing in the grassroots of community rugby league.
“Consumers can choose to buy through traditional secured online payments by using their credit or debit cards or, utilise payment of any of the major crypto currencies,” said Mr. Lee.
“Non-Fungible Tokens projects such as ‘The Ultimate Queenslander NFT’ provide a fantastic way for Queenslanders to own an asset that represents them and the community in which they live. Our aim is to build a strong community around this project that will provide value well into the future,” continued Mr. Lee.
