Works on the Rushworth Streetscape project are progressing well, with road pavement works under way.

The stage 5 road pavement sealing will take place from Wednesday, 6 to Friday, 8 March with plans to re-open the road on Friday evening, pending any undue circumstances. It is then planned that prior to the long weekend, the long weekend, the temporary traffic barriers will be removed, and the west side of High Street will be open for use.

Campaspe Shire Mayor, Cr Rob Amos said the project is on track and he’s glad to see plans to reopen prior to the long weekend.

“We’re keen to see stage 5 of the project finished by the end of this week. I think residents will be happy to see High Street open to traffic on both sides over the long weekend.

“On Tuesday, 12 March, the east side of High Street will be closed to begin stage 6 of the road pavement works. There will be access and parking detours in place, please contact businesses accordingly and obey all traffic changes,” Cr Amos said.

The Mayor reminded residents, like the works on the western roadway, there won’t be access for pedestrians and vehicles to cross the street from one side to the other, except on Moora Road and Wigg Street, please be aware and park accordingly.

“We appreciate the community’s support and patience as the last stage of the works take place.

“Importantly, works are on track and still expected to be practically complete prior to the Easter Heritage Festival, pending any major weather disruptions” Cr Amos added.

Please note, there will be no line marking on the redevelopment until after the Easter Heritage Festival, to allow the road to settle. Installation of bollards within disabled car parking areas will also take place after Easter.

The stages of the redevelopment have been updated based on the progress achieved to date and are now as follows:

  • Stage 1 – Footpath and kerb works on the western side of High Street from Wigg Street to Bendigo Bank – Complete.
  • Stage 2 – Footpath and kerb works on the western side of High Street from Bendigo Bank to the north side of the Railway Line – Complete.
