Indigo Shire will take over the management of the Rutherglen Wine Experience and Visitor Information Centre from 1 September 2020.
While the VIC is currently closed in line with Stage 3 lock-down orders, it will re-open when restrictions are lifted.
The centre has been managed by the Rutherglen Wine Centre Board, a Section 86 Committee of Council, however, it has elected to finish its tenure on 31 August 2020.
Mayor Jenny O’Connor said the Rutherglen Wine Experience and Visitor Information Centre will retain its location, name and operations.
“We are now working with the existing staff on a seamless transition and they tell me they are looking forward to welcoming visitors back when Stage 3 COVID restrictions are lifted and the doors can be re-opened.”
She said the Rutherglen Wine Experience is a hub for visitors, business operators and community and Council was looking forward to continuing to provide the same level of outstanding visitors services in the future.
