More than 650 athletes will take to the Nuriootpa War Memorial Swimming Pool next January when the Barossa Swimming Club hosts the 2024 SA Country Swimming Championships.
Mayor Bim Lange said Council was pleased to partner with the current reigning champion club to make the four-day Swimming SA event a memorable one for the estimated1,500 people expected to attend.
“Events like these underpin our aspiration of making the Barossa a premier sports event destination,” Mayor Lange said.
These Championships will not only attract visitors to the region to provide economic and tourism benefit, but also promote participation in sport for health and wellbeing benefits.
To ensure the 50 metre pool meets competition standards, Council is investing in a number of improvements, including the installation of starting blocks at each end.
