- Queensland Police Service announces extra police allocations for the Rockhampton area
- An additional 26 police positions to be based in the Rockhampton area between now and mid-next year
- An additional 10 police vehicles to be based in the Rockhampton area by mid-next year
- Allocations are part of the biggest investment in the Queensland Police Service in 30 years
The Queensland Police Service has announced new police officer growth allocations for the Rockhampton area.
A total of 26 extra police positions will be based in the Rockhampton area over the next 15 months, with Academy training and recruitment efforts at record levels.
In addition, police advise an additional 10 police vehicles will be based in the Rockhampton area in 2025.
The Queensland Police Service has determined that the extra police positions will be allocated as follows:
- for Yeppoon Police Station, five (5) additional general duties police officers and two (2) additional CIB police officers;
- for the North Rockhampton Police Station, seven (7) additional general duties police officers;
- for the Emu Park Police Station, an additional general duties police officer;
- for the Rockhampton Police Station, seven (7) additional CIB/CPIU police officers; and
- for the Capricornia Police District Domestic and Family Violence and Vulnerable Persons Unit, four (4) additional police officers.
Nineteen (19) of the additional positions will be established in this financial year, with the remaining seven (7) positions allocated by mid-next year.
The growth in police positions is part of the biggest investment in police personnel in more than 30 years, an investment that will deliver more than 2,000 extra police personnel.
The Queensland Police Service says the record government funding in police will deliver a minimum of 150 extra police officers to each policing region across Queensland.
The Queensland Police Service is currently undertaking its largest training and recruitment program in its history with over 500 police recruits currently at the Queensland’s Police Academies and over 2,000 applicants in the police recruit pipeline.
