³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Safe Work Month is now underway, serving as an important opportunity to reflect and address the importance of safe workplace practices right across Australia.
Held annually in October, ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Safe Work Month promotes a positive safety culture and highlights the importance of good work health and safety practices for workers and employers.
Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, Murray Watt said all Australians deserved to get home from work safely.
“Every life lost through unsafe work is a tragedy,” Minister Watt said.
“And unfortunately many Australians have become ill or injured as a result of the work they do.
“³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Safe Work Month is an important reminder that we all have a role to play in reducing the number of work-related injuries, illnesses and fatalities.
“It’s crucial that workplaces develop safe working procedures, and ensure workers feel empowered to speak up if they see something wrong.
“The Albanese Government is also taking action to make Australians safer at work.
“This includes implementing the recommendations of the Respect@Work report to ensure women have workplaces free of harassment, banning engineered stone to prevent respiratory diseases, and ensuring gig workers and regulated road transport contractors can seek safer, award-like working conditions.
“We will continue to work towards safer workplaces for all Australians, and applaud employers and workers who are doing the same.”
