Santa Claus is coming to Downtown Caloundra

Just when you thought Bulcock Street couldn’t get any better, a special guest from the North Pole has confirmed the reindeers are bringing him to Downtown Caloundra on Saturday, December 15.

Everyone is invited to this free event to kick start the Christmas celebrations on Bulcock Street and to officially welcome Santa to Downtown Caloundra.

Proudly supported by Sunshine Coast Council, in collaboration with the Caloundra Business Alliance, the event will be the start of Christmas festivities in Downtown Caloundra.

Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said Christmas in Caloundra would have a new addition this year following the recent completion of the Bulcock streetscape upgrade.

“Bulcock Street has a fresh new look with new trees and shrubs, new footpaths, a reshaped roadway, additional street furniture, public art and will now also be the home of Santa’s workshop,” Mr Dwyer said.

“It’s an exciting time for Caloundra, so it’s with great pleasure this event will welcome Santa for the festive season and also mark the official opening of Bulcock Street.

“Bulcock Street will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland, with roving entertainers, live music, face painting, sausage sizzles, along with free Santa photos.

“Adding to the celebration will be the special release of the Caloundra song and poem, which has been created to celebrate all things Caloundra.

“And the gifts continue, with free parking in the CBD throughout the Christmas period, giving shoppers even more reason to rediscover the enhanced Caloundra.

“Christmas is a special time of year and we’re pleased we can share the joy with the local community.

“I’m proud to be part of the Caloundra community and look forward to seeing everyone for a fun filled day on Bulcock Street, December 15.”

Karlie Brett, from the Caloundra Business Alliance, said the Christmas celebrations on Bulcock Street would be a great way to officially open the upgraded street.

“On behalf of the businesses on Bulcock Street, I want to say thank you to our loyal customers and encourage everyone to come along to this great event,” Ms Brett said.

“There are so many new activities on the program this year, including the cutest pet photo, and daily workshops for the kids.

“We encourage everyone to come along and enjoy the festivities.”

The official celebrations of Christmas in Caloundra will start at 8.30am on Saturday, December 15 with Santa to arrive at 9.15am.
