Satisfaction survey results out now

Satisfaction with services and performance has continued to improve for Mitchell Shire Council with increases for all core indicators revealed in the annual Community Satisfaction Survey.

The survey, managed by the Department of Planning Land Water and Environment, is held annually and randomly asks 400 residents questions about all Council operations. The results for each question are then weighted and a score out of 100 is provided.

Mitchell Shire Council’s overall performance for 2019 saw a one-point improvement on the 2018 result and is our highest rating since tracking began in 2012.

Most core indicators increased with overall performance up by one point, community consultation up by three points, community decisions up by two points and advocacy up by two points.

Customer Service held firm on its score of 70 from 2018, however, the biggest mover was sealed local roads which jumped up four points.

Overall council direction was down by two points but is still at its second highest mark since 2012.

While Council as a whole has improved, many of our services, like unsealed roads, sealed local roads and population growth for example are still seen as areas for improvement.

Knowing this, we have invested more money than ever before into roads, footpaths, bridges and drains.

Our budget 2019-2020 highlight include $9.12 million for roads (new, renewal and upgrade), $1.37 million for footpath and cycleways, $803,000 for bridges and $2.71 million for recreational, leisure and community facilities.

The survey reflects the commitment of Councillors and staff to engage with the community on important decisions and take into account community needs. The focus on engagement has been crucial to Council developing it decisions and policy making to support a rapidly growing shire.
