Save the Children has thrown its support behind the thousands of young Australians attending today’s Climate Strike.
Climate change is a global crisis and the people it will most affect are today’s children.
Save the Children CEO Paul Ronalds said he is inspired by the motivation and strong will of participating students.
“Young people have a right to be heard on the issues that are important to them and this show of global awareness is incredibly impressive from our future leaders.
“School is important, but so too is making sure children’s voices are heard in a world run by adults.
Save the Children supports the democratic right of Australia’s young people to take action, especially when their government will not.
“I know a lot of teachers and a lot of parents are very proud of their kids for speaking out and demanding action by government.
“Australian students are highly engaged and understand that they will be dealing with the consequences of our inaction.”
“Save the Children is standing side-by-side with students attending the Climate Strike across Australia, and around the world,” Mr. Ronalds said.
As part of a global movement, university and school students will march in 55 Australian towns and cities, joining action in more than 80 countries.
Save the Children is a leading child’s rights not-for-profit seeks to speak on behalf of and together with children.
