Saving Lives On Coffs Coast

NSW ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s

Grassroots sport on the Coffs Coast is benefiting from the NSW Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program.

³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said Woolgoolga Tennis Club and Coffs Harbour Kart Racing Club are among almost 200 organisations across the state to share in $500,000 in funding from the program.

The grants of up to $3000 are being used by recipients for the purchase, installation, and training in a new automated external defibrillator.

“These new life-saving devices will have a big part to play in keeping local people safe,” Mr Singh said.

“With more and more people of all ages participating in sport and recreation across the Coffs Coast, this funding will equip our local organisations to respond to life-threatening emergencies.”

Mr Singh said access to a defibrillator immediately following a cardiac arrest can mean the difference between life and death.

“Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest can happen to anyone at any time and this initiative is about saving lives,” Mr Singh said.
