Three outstanding schools were celebrated today for their achievements, as the winners of the WA Education Awards 2022 were announced at the WA Museum Boola Bardip.
The schools were recognised for their efforts to provide students with an excellent education and pathway to a successful future.
Awards were presented in three categories this year, acknowledging schools that demonstrate collective leadership, excellence, innovation, and community spirit.
Shenton College won the Excellence in School Leadership Award for taking an inclusive approach where leadership is encouraged at all levels of the school.
Narembeen District High School took out the Excellence in Teaching and Learning Award (Primary) for successfully creating a positive environment where excellence is encouraged both academically and socially.
Girrawheen Senior High School was awarded the Excellence in Teaching and Learning Award (Secondary) for the way it provides secondary school students with a range of unique learning programs to help them learn, grow, and achieve.
Each winner received a $10,000 prize to put towards a school project or program.
The awards are sponsored by the LIFT Alliance, which is a consortium of specialist IT providers – Kinetic IT, ASG Group, Campfire, and Systemic.
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
“Congratulations to Shenton College, Narembeen District High School, and Girrawheen Senior High School for demonstrating excellence at the highest standard and being named winners in this year’s WA Education Awards.
“This year, the awards recognised whole-school efforts, and the impact that schools have on the growth and achievement of students.
“It’s important to recognise the collective impact that a whole school has on the growth and achievement of its students, as well as celebrate excellence in WA public schools.
“The winning schools have gone above and beyond to provide students with an outstanding education, ensure that they have access to life-changing opportunities, and are set up to succeed in their chosen pathways.”
