ABC Newcastle is delighted to announce that proud Novocastrian and celebrated journalist Scott Bevan will be the new voice of Saturday breakfast on ABC radio across Newcastle and the Hunter.
Already a familiar voice to Newcastle audiences as a fill-in presenter on Saturday breakfast, Scott said he was delighted to be taking on the role permanently.
“I’m excited to be back with the ABC, and to be telling stories in my home region and talking with Hunter people about what matters to them – and to me,” he said.
“I’ve had the great privilege of reporting from many parts of the globe, but to contribute to the conversation in the Hunter means the world to me.”
“And since this is a Saturday program, we’ll be talking about the things that make the weekend – and life – wonderful. So, there will be plenty to talk about together.”

“I know our audience is going to love spending Saturdays with Scott between 6am and 12 noon and we are very excited to have him join our team.”
About Scott Bevan
Scott grew up in Merewether Heights, Newcastle. He trained in journalism and storytelling and was employed as a television reporter for the Nine Network before joining the ABC.
Scott worked as a reporter and occasional presenter for The 7.30 Report and at the end of 2007 was appointed the ABC’s Russia Correspondent.
Returning to Australia in 2010, Scott was a presenter on the ABC NEWS Channel and directed and presented three documentaries: Oll – The Life and Art of Margaret Olley; The Hunter, based on his book of the same name, exploring by kayak the river coursing through his home region; and Arthur Phillip – Governor, Sailor, Spy.
