A 22-year-old man has been rescued after falling approximately 10 metres and striking his head at Cedar Creek on the Gold Coast yesterday afternoon, January 7.
Emergency services were called to the closed section of the falls just before 2pm following reports a man had collapsed.
Upon arrival, police located the 22-year-old Ipswich man unconscious with serious head injuries.
With assistance from bystanders, local officers administered first aid prior to the arrival of the Rescue 500 helicopter and other emergency services personnel.
The man was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
No one else was physically injured.
Police in the Mount Tamborine area are continuing to respond to ongoing requests for assistance following severe storms that affected the region over the past two weeks, with fallen trees, powerlines and other safety hazards continuing to be observed.
Residents are reminded to avoid entering floodwaters, and to stay away from drains, culverts and water that is more than knee deep, and to avoid areas that are closed due to damage.
Visitors are also advised to avoid the area while recovery efforts continue, for their own safety and to allow services to be restored as quickly as possible.
