Nominations for the 2019 Tamworth Regional Council Sports Awards will open today and the community is being encouraged to nominate residents of the region who deserve recognition for their sporting achievements or their contribution to the sporting community.
Held annually, the awards aim to bring together the region’s sports clubs, associations and individuals to celebrate their diversity and achievements.
Tamworth Regional Council Manager of Sports and Recreation, Paul Kelly said: “The Tamworth region is home to some very talented and dedicated sportspeople. We also have some of the best facilities in the country, providing that community with opportunities to participate at a social or highly competitive level.
“We are thrilled to again acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our sportspeople through these Awards.”
The 2019 Awards will consist of 12 categories, and nominations can be made for the achievements of individual athletes, teams, coaches, clubs and administrators for the qualifying period 1 January, 2019 to 9 October, 2019.
Nominations are open from 9am on Wednesday 21 August, 2019 and close at 5pm on Wednesday 9 October, 2019.
This year’s judging panel comprises of ABC New England North West Sports Presenter Mark Lowe, Rural Fit Owner Andrew Mahoney and Intersport, Tamworth Manager Rick Craig.
The Tamworth Regional Council Sports Awards are sponsored by 92.9FM and Intersport, and an event will be held on Wednesday 30 October, 2019 in Tamworth to present the awards.
