Manningham Crime Investigation Unit detectives have now charged two men following an alleged home invasion in Doncaster East earlier this week.
It is alleged three male offenders falsely claiming to be police pushed their way into a property on Red Hill Terrace about 7.50pm on Wednesday 10 April.
Whilst inside the property the trio demanded that the occupants, a man, woman and child, sit down on a couch and not move.
The offenders then ransacked the home and allegedly stole jewellery worth approximately $400,000.
A scuffle broke out resulting in one victim being assaulted, receiving minor injuries and one offender being injured.
The two remaining offenders fled the scene.
A 37-year-old Coolaroo man was taken to hospital and has been charged with aggravated home invasion, impersonate a police officer, theft, possess prohibited weapons and other related offences.
A second man, a 44-year-old Fawkner man was later arrested and has been charged with aggravated home invasion, impersonate police officer, theft and other related offences.
Both men have been remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
Investigators are working to identify and locate the third offender and the investigation remains ongoing.
