Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad have this afternoon charged a second man following an alleged aggravated home invasion in Templestowe Lower last week.
A 43-year-old man from Point Cook was interviewed by police and subsequently charged with:
• aggravated home invasion (firearm)
• reckless conduct endanger life
• intentionally cause serious injury
• recklessly cause serious injury
• false imprisonment
• two counts of common law assault
• use firearm contrary to firearms prohibition order
• two counts of possess prohibited weapon
He will appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this evening.
With assistance from the Special Operations Group, two men were arrested in Carlisle Street in Balaclava around 4.30pm yesterday.
A 35-year-old Lalor man was yesterday charged with a range of offences, including:
• aggravated home invasion (firearm)
• reckless conduct endanger life
• intentionally cause serious injury
• recklessly cause serious injury
• false imprisonment
• two counts of common law assault
• possess cocaine
• possess controlled weapon.
He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 4 January, 2024.
The charges follow an incident where emergency services were called to Linton Avenue just before 1am on Thursday, 16 November after reports a home was broken into and a shot was fired.
Investigators have been told that four people were home at the time.
One of the occupants, a 32-year-old man, was allegedly assaulted and taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
No one else was physically injured during the incident.
At this stage, police believe the parties involved were known to each other.
