A second teenager has been charged following an alleged pursuit in Orange earlier this month.
About 9:30am on Sunday 9 June 2024, officers attached to the Orana Police District were patrolling the Mitchell Highway, Geurie, when they located a Holden Equinox being driven by a man with another man and a female as passengers in the vehicle.
The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that morning from a home on Kenna Street, Orange.
Officers activated their lights and sirens and attempted to stop the vehicle; however, when it failed to stop a pursuit was initiated before being terminated due to safety concerns.
A short time later, the vehicle was located in James Sheahan Drive, Orange, with two of the occupants getting into an SUV. It was stopped in a carpark on Anson Street, Orange, where the driver and a 30-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl were arrested.
A 19-year-old man was arrested a short time later at a property on Sale Street, Orange.
All four were taken to Orange Police Station and charged; they remain before court.
About 3.30pm on Thursday (20 June 2024), a 16-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station.
Police also executed an outstanding warrant for intimidation and property-related offences.
The boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
He was refused bail and appeared in a Children’s Court on Friday (21 June 2024) where he was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on Monday 9 September 2024.
