ARA Executive Director Russell Zimmerman said he is looking forward to this year’s Awards breakfast, which will be held on 15 August 2019 at the iconic Myer Mural Hall in Melbourne.

“The Awards are Australia’s largest and longest running national retail awards program, acknowledging retailers across the country who contribute to the vibrancy of the industry,” Mr Zimmerman said.

“Our annual Awards celebrate the achievements made by influential leaders from across the nation who specialise in all aspects of retail from customer experience to technology, payments, human resources and supply chain management.”

The theme of this year’s Awards, Retail Morphosis, focuses on the progressive development of the retail sector. In recent years, the industry has undergone a revolution, becoming a highly integrated network that is evolving and changing at a rapid rate.

“The retail industry has withstood a whirlwind of change during its lifetime. From uncertain economic conditions to ever-changing consumer preferences, the sector has seen it all,” Mr Zimmerman said.

“Retail Morphosis aims to revisit the foundations of Australian retail, and how it has matured into a thriving, adaptable industry, while also catching a glimpse of what’s in store for the future of retail.”

Joining Retail Morphosis is keynote speaker Amanda Stevens, who is a renowned thought leader on the topic of customer experience and the recipient of the 2018 Keynote Speaker of the Year Award.

“We are honoured to welcome Amanda Stevens into Retail Morphosis. Recognised as one of the most dynamic speakers in Australia, Amanda delivers practical strategies that are designed to assist retailers in understanding current retail trends and consumer purchasing behaviour,” Mr Zimmerman said.

Another welcome feature of this year’s Awards is Steve Plarre, CEO Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses and esteemed ARA council member who will officiate as Master of Ceremonies (MC).

“It is an absolute privilege to have Steve as this year’s MC. Not only is he a successful and respected retailer, he is also a charismatic entertainer who last year received a standing ovation from the crowd.”

With 12 awards for the taking, the ARA has received a high volume of nominations from small, medium and large retailers from across the country already submitting their entries and strongly advise all Australian retailers to complete their submissions before Friday 17th May 2019.

“The ARA has already received many submissions across our three main awards categories, from Customer Experience to People in Retail and Retailer of the Year,” Mr Zimmerman said.

“As the Awards are just a few short months away, we encourage our retailers to submit an entry

and join us at the symbolic Myer Mural Hall to be recognised as a true leader in the retail sector.”
