There are 13 priority cacti species in the North West of New South Wales. Hudson pear (Cylindropuntia pallida) is one of these species. It has invaded over 100,000 hectares in Lightning Ridge and surrounding areas.

Northern Slopes Landcare has put together a survey to help them to understand what it is travellers need help with when travelling through cactus infested areas.
