About the team and what we offer
The Climate Change Authority (CCA) is an independent statutory body established to provide balanced, expert, evidence-based advice to the Australian Government on climate change, including through conducting regular and specifically commissioned reviews and through undertaking climate change research.
The Corporate Services Team works collaboratively as a multidisciplinary team to provide strategic and operational services and advice across the agency’s finance, procurement and human resource functions and maintain the Authority’s corporate governance framework and compliance. The team are also responsible for all security matters across the Authority including ICT and facilities management.
The Senior Information, Risk & Compliance Advisor supports the Assistant Manager to achieve complex procedural, operational, administrative and business support work within an integrated workforce. Providing detailed administration, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
What you will do
Key capabilities delivered by this position include:
- Monitor and review of agency policies, procedures, frameworks and control systems.
- Support the preparation of annual reports, corporate plan, fraud, risk management and business continuity plans in accordance with PGPA Act and supporting legislation, policies and frameworks.
- Maintain a comprehensive list of government reporting requirements along with who is responsible, where the data can be located and who has final approval, due dates, length of time to deliver the report and to whom the report is submitted, review annual and updated.
- Work collaboratively with CCA’s broader corporate services team, legal and parliamentary coordination and secretariat to deliver governance and compliance activities achieving a holistic approach to enabling services for the Agency including Freedom of Information, Public Interest Disclosure and Fraud
- Management of the Authority’s Information Management system and metadata.
- Management of the Authority’s risk management frameworks, policies and registers and timely reporting to senior executive team.
- Actively identification of strategic and operational risks for the Authority.
- Provide guide to team leaders on potential areas of risk and management of these risks.
- Undertake certificate of compliance reporting for the Authority including surveying staff.

- Demonstrate capability to influence key stakeholders in order to achieve effective strategic outcomes.
- Strong skill sets in analysing, synthesising and presenting business data.
- Experience in business environments, preferably with human resources, finance, governance or information management knowledge.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills that foster trust and cooperation, and a proven ability to work effectively and with integrity within a politically sensitive environment.
- Ability to work in a fluid environment, remaining flexible, agile and adaptable supporting colleagues at short notice.
Eligibility and security clearance
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must:
- Be an Australian citizen or going to be granted Australian Citizenship before commencement. You may be asked to provide evidence of this.
- Undertake a pre-employment security assessment and subsequent security clearance. All staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance however some roles will require a higher level security clearance. If you are offered a role and do not have a current security clearance, we will work with you to arrange for this to be undertaken.
- Be medically fit to undertake the duties of the job.
This position requires a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

This is an ongoing role. The Authority offers Individual Flexible Arrangements when appropriate and for the most suitable applicant.
There are opportunities to consider working remotely. The majority of the team are based in Canberra.
The successful applicants will be assessed against the Australian Public Service (APS) work level standards.

This process is being used to fill roles that are either non-ongoing or on-going vacancies in the Authority. A merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within the Authority over the next 12 months.
