City of Darwin is providing a free program of events for elderly community members to celebrate Seniors Month.
Seniors Month is held annually in August and aims to celebrate the positive aspects of ageing.
Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said that Seniors Month was an important time to celebrate the continued contribution that seniors make to our community.
“The objective of Seniors Month is to encourage elderly people to live healthy and active lifestyles and to show that the later years can be a time for learning and adventure.
“During August, anyone with an NT Seniors Card can enjoy a variety of free activities within Darwin including guided walks, sunrise yoga and a workshop on native bees with Barry Conde.
“We are delighted to celebrate the ongoing contributions of elderly people to their family, friends, workplaces, and communities.
“Our events program provides a great opportunity for seniors to connect with the community, learn something new and enjoy a healthy lifestyle,” he said.
The Seniors Month program of events run during August 2024 throughout Darwin and includes events to suits a range of interests and abilities.
