Serious assault at Pie Creek, QLD

Police have charged a 44-year-old Pie Creek man following the alleged serious assault of a 63-year-old Belli Park man at Pie Creek today (February 13).

At approximately 8.45am, the 63-year-old was at a Daniel Drive property when he was approached by the 44-year-old man, who is known to him.

It will be alleged that the 44-year-old man seriously assaulted the 63-year-old man whilst armed with a knife.

The 66-year-old man was able to get into his utility and leave the scene. He travelled to Eel Creek Road where he pulled over and called for help.

A short time later, the 44-year-old man drove his car into the rear of the utility, before he switched vehicles and left the scene.

The 66-year-old man was taken to Gympie Hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

At approximately 9.45am, police attended the Daniel Drive address where they observed the 44-year-old get back into the utility.

He allegedly struck two police vehicles before leaving the scene.

Police later located the utility abandoned at Cooroy, before locating the man at a nearby address where he was taken into custody at approximately 12.45pm.

A 44-year-old Pie Creek man has been charged with 13 offences, including one count of serious assault person over 60 (DV), one count of assault occasioning bodily harm (DV), one count of wounding (DV), one count of armed robbery (DV), two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle (DV), one count of wilful damage (DV), one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle, three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and two counts of wilful damage of police property.

He is expected to appear before Gympie Magistrates Court tomorrow (February 14).
