Detectives from the Gang Crime Squad have charged a member of the Mongrel Mob criminal street gang in relation to an incident in Cockburn Central on Wednesday 17 July 2024.
It will be alleged about 3:20pm, the accused was outside a shopping centre in Cockburn Central when he approached a man he had just been involved in a verbal altercation with and assaulted him.
It will be further alleged the accused became involved in a fight with several other people and assaulted a second male victim, who was standing nearby and not engaged in the fighting. The second victim fell to the ground and was rendered unconscious.
A 28-year-old man was arrested later in the day and was charged by Gang Crime Squad detectives with:
– Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm
– Fighting in public causing fear
– Displayed insignia of an identified organisation in a public place
He was refused bail and appeared in Fremantle Magistrates Court on Thursday 18 July 2024, and is next due to appear in the same court on Tuesday 20 August 2024.
The 28-year-old man has since been further charged with a second count of ‘Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm’ in relation to the second victim, and will appear in court for the first time on that charge during his court appearance on Tuesday 20 August 2024.
