Severe Weather Event Update

warning sign

In response to the Christmas Day storm event damage assessments are underway. So far QFES have attended almost 1600 homes for damage assessments and we expect this number to rise over the coming days.

Energex has indicated there are about 20,000 homes still without power and they will have more crews around the city today, to help get the power up and running. SES and RFS volunteers continue to attend to hundreds of jobs that are still outstanding, and we thank them for their efforts.

As you around if you notice a tree that you believe is a risk to public safety, please call us as soon as possible on 07 5667 5974.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast potentially severe storms for the Gold Coast area from mid-morning tomorrow. We’re asking everyone to be prepared and inform friends, family and neighbours who may not be aware.

Community Recovery hubs will remain open daily until further notice. Locations include:

  • Upper Coomera Centre
