City staff and support agencies are working through thousands of tasks to restore and maintain services across the Gold Coast.
QFES have attended to more than 2200 homes for damage assessments, and we expect this number to rise over the coming days. Energex has indicated there are about 11,000 homes still without power with crews working around the city to help get the power up and running. SES and RFS volunteers continue to attend to hundreds of jobs that are still outstanding. Additional emergency services have arrived from Victoria to assist with hundreds of remaining SES assistance requests.
Support has been secured from disaster-related Non-Government Organisations including Rapid Relief Team who have commenced removal of storm debris from around the city. As clean up efforts continue, and significant storm debris remains across the Gold Coast, there is an increased risk of injury. We’re asking everyone to take care and ensure any leftover storm debris doesn’t impede safe pedestrian access.
