Australia’s defence capability and expertise have been on show in London, with more than 100 suppliers taking part in one of the world’s biggest military exhibitions.
The annual Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition this week brought together more than 3000 suppliers, as well as governments, armed forces, industry and academics from across the globe.
Head of Australian Defence Staff in London Brigadier Grant Mason said DSEI was an opportunity to share ideas and build capability.
“Events like these are important for building stronger national security capabilities so we are better able to maximise deterrence, denial and response opportunities, given the increasingly complicated world we are living in,” Brigadier Mason said.
Austrade’s Defence & Security Director in the UK, John Brosan, said 104 Australian companies were on show.
“This is Australia’s biggest ever trade delegation to an international defence show, with 700 meetings arranged. There’ll be lots of connections made and a lot of relationships built on which, hopefully, business will follow,” Mr Brosnan said.
The range of capability on show included:
- AI robotics and navigation technologies;
- Advanced electronic warfare systems that intelligently sense, collect and bind information for sensor fusion;
- Counter-drone solutions;
- Threat intelligence technology combining broad data collection across open-source platforms with AI-enabled risk detectors to build rich intelligence pictures;
- Advanced robotics and metal manufacturing solutions, providing critical replacement metal parts on demand in the field or at sea.
The theme, ‘Achieving an Integrated Force’, highlighted the integration across the five operational domains of air, cyber and electromagnetic activities, land, sea and space.
