Shellharbour City Council is excited to introduce two fully electric vehicles to the fleet, marking a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainability.
These are the first fully electric motor pool vehicles to join Council’s fleet, with the new Toyota BZ4X’s complementing several other sustainable additions including Shellharbour City Mayor Chris ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾r’s electric Volvo XC40, eight plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles, two hybrid trucks and a further hybrid passenger vehicle currently on order.

The introduction of battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles represents the second phase of Council’s transition to a greener fleet following the widespread conversion from internal combustion engine passenger vehicles to hybrid alternatives over recent years.
Council’s commitment to improving the environmental performance of its fleet aligns with its operational goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2035. By investing in sustainable transport
options, Shellharbour City Council is supporting local climate action whilst building a greener, more environmentally responsible community.

Over the coming months Council will be installing fifteen green powered electric vehicle chargers across a of number of Council facilities including the Civic Centre, Works Depot and Waste Depot to future proof the energy needs of our evolving fleet.
Two public charging stations are available in the B1 car park of the Civic Centre and residents are also able to charge their electric vehicles at a number of other privately owned chargers around the city. The current local EV charging network is available on .
