Shellharbour City Council last night unanimously adopted its Delivery Program for 2018 – 2021, its Operational Plan for 2019-2020 and Long Term Financial Plan for 2019 – 2029.
These documents are part of the Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework and in the case of the Operational Plan, set out Council’s planned actions (including budget) for the 2019-2020 financial year.
They outline how Council will deliver on the expectations of the community in alignment with the Community Strategic Plan (CSP) and detail the current and future plans for Council’s services areas, operational functions and capital works program.
The Operational Plan has a strong focus on financial sustainability and asset renewal and is supported by a detailed budget, which sets out rates and fees and charges for the year. The Operational Plan also details specific actions for the financial year.
The Long Term Financial Plan (LTFP) forecasts Council’s capacity to provide financial resources to meet the objectives of the CSP.
Key projects in the Operational Plan for 2019-2020 include:
• Illawarra Regional Airport upgrade
• Albion Park and Oak Flats Pool upgrades
• Albion Park Showgrounds and Centenary Hall upgrades
• Reddall Reserve and McDonald Park Playground upgrades
• Warilla Library (commencing 2018-2019)
• Blackbutt Dam modification
• Skiway Park Promenade renewal (commencing 2018-2019)
• Links Stage 2 building modification
Shellharbour City Mayor Councillor Marianne Saliba said the plans demonstrated Council’s commitment to improving the city’s amenities, facilities and services, as well as strong fiscal responsibility.
“In this budget, Council will deliver projects of significant importance to our community to enhance their lives and set the pathway for the future of our City,” Cr Saliba said.
